Similarly, hours have been reduced at 21 of the company’s sites, including Caroline Springs, Laurimar, Mill Park, Templestowe, Dandenong South and Watergardens store, the latter of which was also open for just four hours today.
Coles has also had to limit its opening hours at 17 stores across the state, including Airport West, Port Melbourne, Broadmeadows, Essendon Fields and Campbellfield.
Premier Daniel Andrews told media on Friday the issue had been “resolved and in a good place” after discussions between the government and supermarket representatives this morning.
“This morning there was a meeting with supermarkets. I understand that was resolved positively, and we are making some changes to those isolation protocols,” he said.
“Our supermarket workers have done an amazing job over these last 20 months, and I’m deeply grateful to all of them and their families, their managers, the whole team.”
A Woolworths spokesperson said it was working closely with the state government and was grateful for the dialogue, saying the company was hopeful of “finding a suitable way forward soon”.
“We thank our customers for their understanding as we work through this,” the spokesperson said.
“Customers and team members should be assured they can continue to safely shop and work at our supermarkets.”
