Administrators have been appointed to Port Hedland contractor MJW Building, which had been working on a series of projects for the local government.

Jeremy Nipps and Cliff Rocke from Cor Cordis were appointed to the builder on Wednesday, information from the Australian Securities and Investments Commission shows.

A creditors meeting is scheduled for October 18.

The company was founded by Matt Webb and had been built from a sole-tradership, incorporating in 2011.

MJW’s clients have included the Pilbara Port Authority, state Department of Housing and federal Department of Education.

The Town of Port Hedland said the business had recently worked on upgrades to the JD Hardie Sports and Community Hub and the Wedgefield Depot.

It started work on the community hub’s stage two in January, with the total cost of that stage of the project expected to be $7.5 million.

“In recent years, MJW Building has worked with the town on delivering several infrastructure projects, including upgrades to the JD Hardie Sports and Community Hub and the Wedgefield Depot,” a spokesperson for the town said.

“MJW Building was in the process of constructing several much-anticipated projects in Hedland.

“The town has made payments on works completed to date and is now working to ensure these projects are completed as soon as possible.

“The town will inform the community of any updates on these projects as they become available.”
