The local business community on North Stradbroke Island say they need a clear vision for the future of the unique island and tourist favourite.
There are concerns uncovered during a review into the island’s transition from sand mining to a travel hotspot that little has been done to transform the island.
Chairman of the North Stradbroke Island Chamber of Commerce and founder of Discover Stradbroke, Colin Battersby, admitted some of the projects had produced nothing “visible”.
He said the transition has been shouldered by the small business community and they wanted more consultation with the government moving forward.
“We’ve all feel that has probably been the weakness in the projects to this point,” he said.
Mr Battersby said there needed to be an overarching goal or agreement and community vision.
“It’s all here, it just needs to be better managed.”
