The Wyndham Business Awards have officially opened and residents are being encouraged to apply, and nominate their favourite business.
The launch was celebrated with a business briefing luncheon at Holiday Inn in Werribee.
Mayor Peter Maynard delivered an opening speech, saying it was great to be out and among residents of the municipality.
“It’s wonderful to see so many people here today who are coming together in Wyndham to talk business,” he said.
“The business awards are now in their 26th year, that’s certainly a testament to the success of this program.”
This is the first year the awards have taken place in person since covid disruptions postponed the event.
“The last two years have been challenging and has really tested Wyndham’s local business community and economy,” Cr Maynard said.
“Council’s priority is to support business and to help create an economic environment that encourages prosperity, local employment and sustainable long-term economic growth.”
Businesses can apply for their relevant category, nominate a business person of the year and vote for a chosen business in the People’s Choice Award.
Eligible applicants must have a registered business located within Wyndham and hold a valid ABN.
Sponsors of the business awards, members of the judging panel and councillors, employees of Wyndham council and venues with electronic gaming machines are ineligible to enter.
Entries close Friday, June 3 at 5pm.
