Five Mexican fast food chain restaurants in Perth have closed their doors after liquidators were called in yesterday.

Australian Securities and Investments Commission documents show Robpop M Investments, Robpop BF, RobpopMF Investments and MM Perth operated the Mad Mex restaurants in Midland, Mandurah, Joondalup, Baldivis and at Brookfield Place. The companies have been placed in the hands of liquidators Jack James and Paula Smith, from Rodgers Reidy.

ASIC records show Popis Investments and Wildtrick Enterprises were behind the four companies.

Popis Investments is owned by Theodoros Popis, while Tuart Hill residents Tania Roberts and Jason Anthony Roberts own Wildtrick Entreprises.

It is not yet known how much is owed to creditors.

The head office of Mad Mex Fresh Mexican Grill is based in New South Wales and was contacted for comment.

The closures follow a string of retail and hospitality collapses, most of which have been attributed to COVID.

Ficus restaurant and Shy John Brewery & Yum Cha in Perth CBD’s Yagan Square closed in recent months.
