Mountains women leading the way in business – Blue Mountains Gazette

A group of Mountains-based entrepreneurs were honoured during a recent gala awards night staged by the Women With Altitude business network.

Anne Barratt of Empowering Health, Dr Henriette Macri-Etienne of Intergrated Dental Health at Katoomba, holistic mentor Chandu Bickford, and Sista Styling (Springwood) owners Liesel Solomon and Jayne Denham, all received awards.

Women With Altitude founder Andrea Turner Boys said there were more than 200 entrants in the various categories, hailing from a large area of NSW and Canberra.

She said the Mountains had put in a particularly strong showing.

Ms Turner Boys said the awards night – held on December 4 at Liverpool Catholic Club – was a way of shining a light on the amazing work of women in business.

Taking home the annual Business Excellence Award and named the Inspirational Person of the Year, Anne Barratt, took on Empowering Health after a corporate career in Sydney.

“Being in business on your own can be very isolating,” she said. “However, from day one, when I reached out, people were more than happy to share and have been very supportive.”

Ms Turner Boys said she was grateful to receive the awards in wht has been a “challenging year”.

“As demand increases, particularly around mental health, some traditional businesses have been forced to change and broaden the scope of service to clients,” she said. “I’ve been fortunate to be in a position to help fill gaps with complementary health support.”
